I enjoyed this book. It was similar in some ways to The Lady's Companion. This also didn't shy away from some darker aspects of being a POW. Some moments were definitely not as hardcore as Daughter of Fortune but be prepared for the bleakness in the prison.I found the main characters engaging but the villain of the piece was a bit over the top for me and the ending I felt was a bit rushed.I didn't care for the bait and switch with the secondary characters and felt that the overtop villain really took away from the story for meIf you're a Carla Kelly fan or like your regency/historicals with some gritty realism and a sweet romance I'd recommend this to you. It's available now for early release on the HQN ebook site if you don't feel like waiting until mid-May.
